Whahoo!!! I'm so excited to announce that my Cookie Hustler Course 101 enrollment is now open for a limited time only🙋🏽♀️!! It took me a minute to finally hit the launch button but I'm so glad I am because now I can begin unloading ALL OF THESE classes for this new community that I hope you choose to be a part of😉 .
One of the things I dealt with often in my business was customers who had so much confidence in me because I consistently provided beautiful and delicious cakes, they assumed I could do the same with cookies I mean after all, I had a bakery!! But the truth of the matter is that I didn't start by already knowing how to make cookies much less how to decorate them🤦🏽♀️! But the demand was pretty high and well... who doesn't LOVE COOKIES, RIGHT😋 !? I thought to myself, how hard can this be🤷🏽♀️? You can learn anything online you just gotta look for it!! Easy, peasy!! So, I got right to it. About a year later, I finally got it... a base recipe that I could test tweak and make my own and LOTS of DAYS and NIGHTS searching for and watching YouTube videos on how to decorate phew🙄!! Looking back now, I think why the heck didn't I invest in my business and find a class from someone I already knew, liked and trusted? It would have saved me money and most importantly, it would have saved so much time and made life so much easier 🤦🏽♀️.
So, allow me to have done that for you! I've already invested the money and the time and I want you to capitalize off of it. It's been over a year now since I've closed my bricks and mortar bakery and have moved it back home and have been working as a home based baker. It's been quite the transition to say the least!
I hope this post finds you well. 😉 It's been a crazy couple of years for the entire world I know and so much has changed and ESPECIALLY the way we do business!😕
A lot of you have found my website to place cake orders and that's so awesome! I appreciate your continued support. As much as I miss bringing you sweet things and chatting with you all, I have to say, I miss teaching😥. When I first hired employees, they were culinary graduates so they didn't come in knowing how to decorate cakes or cookies at a professional level. Their expertise was mostly baking. Over the course of 6 years, I was able to teach them everything I learned and knew about cake decorating techniques, cookies and things that were trending in the baking industry. This was my happy place🤗. To watch them take what I was able to teach them and just run with it and take it to a whole new level for the business, it was amazing.
Now that I've brought my business back home, I have found myself with 10 years of knowledge in the baking business and I cannot continue to keep it to myself! I'm so ready to share what I've learned over the years from recipes decorating cakes, cookies etc. with you! 🙋🏽♀️
Now I do realize that most of you probably would rather buy sweet things than make it yourself and that's OK! I get it. But for you ladies who inquired about my classes or shared an interest in wanting to learn to decorate, THIS. IS. FOR. YOU. I am certain that I'm not the only business owner who's emotions have gone from zero to 100 mph in 0.2 seconds with uncertainty, then to excitement of doing business in a whole new fresh way, then back to uncertainty then to confusion and then an abrupt halt when $h*t gets real! 🤔😢😜🙌😢🤷♀️
This has been my experience since March 14th when I had 15 event orders cancel in 1 weeks time.🤦♀️ Most of my close friends know that I've been considering not renewing my lease the end of May because things were not where I wanted them to be and I felt I had taken this business as far as my skills could. But along the way, my heart couldn't come to terms with giving up, so I hired a business coach back in January. Through the pandemic, I had decided that if the business can sustain this struggle then we would come out stronger on the other side, right? 🙌👏 So, i used the downtime to begin re-branding and updating my business plan because this was thought to be temporary closure. I mean why not use this downtime that I would have never other wise get, right!?🤷♀️
So, now we're in month of April, working online orders only. Definitely not enough to sustain the business. Thinking about the long term repercussions this pandemic is ALREADY having on businesses in general.🤦♀️ Accepting things for what they are. Praying for direction. RENEW MY LEASE or NOT. 👏Now in the month of May pressure is on. Praying for a HARD decision that would give me certainty in my direction is ALL I asked for. I could either make a clean break by scaling back my business or RISK losing my entire business if I'm not able to pivot in a BIG way to save my business.😯 In reality, I knew I would make it to August but beyond that lied lots of uncertainty.
Later I spoke to my business neighbor, Fur Baby Pet Grooming, she was interested in acquiring the space and right then I knew, this is my HARD answer.👀 Do not block someone else's blessing. Her business has prospered during this Pandemic and doing what's best for me is giving her an opportunity to grow her own business.😊 I can't tell you the weight lifted off my shoulders after the conversation with Sheriese. I was overly excited for her and I've never felt better about the decision to scale back my business and reevaluate the direction and potential new location for us.
So my husband and I decided to not renew this location for the time being. Instead we will be closing Love Sweet Things Bakery physical location and keeping our online store until we can find the right location that suits our needs. I served so many of you all when I first started this business as a home based business and lots of you continued supporting us after opening our bricks and mortar business and I hope that you all continue trusting us to serve you as we shift directions once again.
I look forward to continuing serving you in a whole new way!

How else do i say this other than just say it how it is. My husband and I feel it is in our best interest and those we serve that we temporarily close our bakery until our nation is healthy enough to pickup ourselves up and begin recovering from this horrific loss of family, friends and dignity due to COVID-19.
Right now, we want to focus on being with our family in good health and in prayer for our FAMILIES, FRIENDS and OUR WORLD that we grow closer together in kindness, love and spirit and when we see our brother or sister down, we lift them up and help carry them to place of peace.
Right now, it may be difficult for us to understand, but the sooner we can accept the things WE CANNOT CHANGE, the sooner we can move forward in WAYS WE CAN CHANGE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
